A structure becomes an experience

The Public Beta of LXKeys.space marks a change of regime for the Spatium. For several years, its coherence has been built through positions, relations, AES identities, temporal systems, artworks and different modes of representation. That coherence now meets a new constraint. It must become usable by someone who may know nothing about the history behind it.

The challenge is therefore not simply to make an existing architecture visible. It is to discover whether that architecture can be understood by moving through it.

This requires an initial clarification. The Spatium is not identical to the three dimensional scene available in a browser. LXSpatium defines a logical space based on LTP° addresses, with 81 theoretical positions of which 72 are accessible. A matrix, graph, angular projection, 2D map or 3D environment can make this space perceptible without becoming its authority.

The Public Beta depends on that separation. A representation may evolve while the canonical identity of a position remains stable. The 3D environment therefore becomes a mode of access to the Spatium rather than its definition.

Making the system inhabitable

LXKeys.space enters an already distributed architecture. The Core maintains canonical data. LXSpatium carries the formal spatial structure. LXCalendarium organizes the temporal layer. Network establishes relations among knowledge, publications, evidence, observations and AES activity without creating a competing canon. Gallery hosts selected artistic manifestations. LXKeys.com retains the editorial role of making the wider system publicly intelligible.

LXKeys.space adds another function. It attempts to let positions, presences, places and content be perceived together.

This ambition is especially visible in the treatment of AES identities. An address that could previously be read as data can now correspond to a presence encountered in space. Yet scenography remains separate from canonical structure. A module may move or change without moving the P° reference associated with it.

The same principle governs places. A module defines a space, not predetermined content. A gallery contains an artwork only when that artwork has actually been placed there. A library, residence or editorial center can receive different compositions without requiring a new canonical rule. This logic makes LXKeys.space a spatial authoring environment rather than a fixed decor.

Beta as method

The central question is no longer the one explored by LX Spatium Sync in 2025. That experiment tested, among other things, whether the matrix could become an interactive game mechanic. The current Public Beta instead asks whether the Spatium itself can become intelligible, navigable and inhabitable enough to encourage autonomous exploration.

The BETA Observatory follows simple signals in order to investigate that question. It can show whether a visitor actually enters the Spatium, whether 3D loading succeeds, how long a session lasts, how many places are opened, whether publications are consulted, whether VR or AR are used and where errors occur.

These measurements do not amount to a lasting portrait of individuals. A Beta session remains a technical session. The resulting numbers therefore describe observable behavior within a given state of the system, not exhaustive knowledge of its audience.

Freezing the production version follows the same methodological requirement. Development continues in staging while the public encounters a relatively stable reference version. Without that stability, a behavioral change could result from an interface modification just as easily as from a change in interest.

Intelligibility as an outcome

The success of the Beta cannot therefore be reduced to traffic. High attendance may coexist with weak understanding. A smaller audience may instead produce long explorations and decisive feedback.

What must be learned concerns the transition from structure to experience. Do AES identities become easier to understand when they acquire spatial presence. Is a publication situated inside a place perceived differently from a link. Can a complex temporal and spatial organization be discovered gradually without requiring a complete explanation before entry.

Failures will be as valuable as successes. An immediate exit, an excessively heavy scene, an incomprehensible position or a place with no readable function can all provide directly usable information.

The answer remains open. After years spent making the Spatium coherent from within, the Public Beta finally makes it possible to test whether it becomes intelligible from outside. The Spatium is no longer only constructed, represented or explained. It can now be observed while it is being lived.
